Theatre Centre Residency Support Material

Below is a selection of participatory performance projects that have influenced the development of an unimportant play for those who are interested. Each project is accompanied by a brief description and images. Click on the titles to view additional information and video documentation. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a link to explore other projects I’ve created over the years.

WORMS: Performed at Concrete Cabaret’s “Basement Edition” at Collective Arts, Toronto, ON – October 2024.
This performance featured an original audio narrative that played as the space gradually filled with large, soft sculpture “worms.” Through audience participation and layered storytelling, the piece explored the tension between artistic instinct and academic research.

WORM WALK: Presented in the Special Projects Gallery at York University, September 23–27, 2024.
A precursor to the WORMS performance listed above, this durational piece began with a weeklong transformation of materials into soft sculpture “worms” within the gallery space. The performance culminated in a collective serenade, as participants carried the worms out of the gallery and into public space.

DIE TOMATO, DIE!!!: Performed at LEGS Toronto II, OCAD University, Toronto – December 2023.
This performance examined the relationship between audience and performer through the symbolic destruction of a tomato- an object long associated with theatrical failure and disapproval. Rather than waiting for judgment, I destroyed the tomato myself in a rebellious act, covering both myself and the audience in tomato juice.

BUOJ IZ JEB: An ongoing interactive performance featuring my character “Buoj iz Jeb,” a pretend-nude elderly man with a crude sense of humor. Most recently performed at What the Festival in Toronto, October 2024.

RED BLOB MASSACRE: Presented at the Cavern Club, Ann Arbor, MI – April 2012.
This was my final large-scale project before shifting focus to shorter solo works. It combined a short silent horror film with live, interactive performance elements and a dance party. Created as my graduate thesis for the University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art & Design.
